Kearny Mayor Alberto Santos at the Close Keegan Landfill protest on Saturday, April 27, 2019 calls on Governor Murphy to close the Keegan Landfill. Governor Murphy refused to comment on the protest on the same day as the protest when he was in Jersey City for a 5K run at Liberty Park.

The NJDEP took over operation of the Fenimore Landfill in Roxbury New Jersey when the landfill started emitting hydrogen sulfide (H2S) gas.  This video featuring Mark Pedesen, an Assistant Commisioner of the NJ DEP, explaining the capping process and filtration of H2S gas.
