status of support to cap, close & filter air

Governor Phil Murphy

Senator Nicholas J. Sacco

Senator Nicholas J. Sacco

Refusal to Comment since April 27, 2019. Lack of Leadership despite clear evidence of negligence on behalf of Commisioners of NJSEA and Director of Operations who lied about being the source and continue to deny that hydrogen sulfide gas is not toxic but a "nuisance gas". DEP Commissioner McCabe is silent despite closure of other privately owned landfills with fewer violations.

To Help Us Reach Our Goal of Capping, Closing & Filter Air

A Score card of elected officials

On September 12, 2019, New Jersey State Senator Nicholas Sacco introduced a Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 180 co-sponsored by Senator Bryan Stack and Senator Sandra Cunningham.  Senator Sacco's resolution is a milestone in the battle to have the New Jersey Sports & Exhibition Authority (NJSEA) agree to cap, close and filter the air at the Keegan Landfill to improve New Jersey's air quality.   We applaud Senator Sacco's leadership.  We are surprised that other elected officials have not issued public statements echoing the statements made in Senator Sacco's resolution.  We thank Senators Stack and Cunningham's co-sponsorship. We have also gotten support in statements on Twitter from Senator Troy Singleton who represents the 7th Legislative District in South Jersey.  He too may co-sponsor Senator Sacco's resolution.  We thought we would set up a page to keep track of elected official who are for "Capping, Closure & Air Filter", "Partial Closure", "Silent" or "Against".
